Float Planes

Air planes are used a lot in Alaska since the state is so large and there are very few roads, and float planes are popular since they have many lakes and slow moving rivers which make good places to land. We got to see this plane take off and land on the Chena River. The plane is valued at about $100K and it takes $100 per hour to operate. It is said that Alaska has more air plane pilots than all of the lower 48 states combined. We are leaving Fairbanks tomorrow and it may be a couple of days before we can find Wi-Fi again.
